Regency Period Internal Doors

Regency doors develop the Grecian classicism of the Georgian period with new inspiration from continental European architectural designs.

The six panel Georgian door is less in favour during this period than four panel doors which emerge as the most fashionable configuration of Regency period doors. Similarly raised and fielded panel door details are replaced with flat and flush panel doors which become the preferred choice for high status properties. Sir John Soane and John Nash are prominent leaders in this period of architectural diversity and innovation.
